This is basically just an introduction to my blog where I’m mainly going to be babbling about pregnancy/babies/mummy stuff for anyone who’s interested! (Also so I can read back in years to come and remember my cute little baby and our life together
). My name is Courtney and I’m 20 years old. Around this time last year Callum (my baby daddy) and I developed a whole ‘if it happens, it happens’ kind of attitude to pregnancy. We’d been living together since August and had been on and off together since we were 12! (You may think ‘aww sweet’ but don’t. He used to dump me after a couple of weeks every time I went out with him!). We decided to move in together after starting to talk again when he moved to Eastbourne and I was living in Kent and from there on it was kind of like someone put a rocket up the arse of our relationship! Within 6 months of him first coming down to Kent we were already living together in our first little flat in Eastbourne. After a month of ‘if it happens’ I started to think that I was pregnant after I could no longer run up the stairs at work without feeling like I’d run a marathon but after taking a test it came back negative. Two weeks later I said to Callum about it and we decided that if I was still feeling the same way in a week or so then we’d take another test but me being the inpatient little so and so that I am woke up the next morning and thought ‘fuck this! I know I’m pregnant and im going to get myself another test!’ So drove over to tesco, came home and peed… Positive! Even though I had already guessed I was still completely shocked and rang Callum as I was still peeing on the second test (just in case) to let him know while he was at work! Of course the next test came back bright lined withing seconds! The beginning of my pregnancy was bloody awful! After pains and spotting at 5 weeks I was sent for a scan and told that they thought I was having an eptopic pregnancy and that I would definitely lose the ‘baby’ if it was but at the scan there my tiny little pin head sized baby was! I then had another scan at 6 weeks and 5 days as a check up and then my next scan was at 12 weeks and 6 days and I was over the bloody moon announcing my pregnancy to the world! On the morning of the 10th of April (13+5 weeks) I was laid in bed, got up for a wee and the noticed that the whole of the toilet was filled with blood along with my clothes and the carpet! I immediately rang an ambulance and was rushed to Hastings Conquest Hospital. I was completely alone for almost 3 hours due to where Callum was working at the time and had been laid in a waiting room with a nurse holding my hand for most of it as I couldn’t stop crying. I had multiple midwifes telling me that to expect the worse as the amount of blood I had lost was extremely worrying. They decided to scan me that day as the heart beat may not of been able to be found. We walked in and the woman explained the procedure of what she was going to do to find out why I had lost the baby and what was going to happen next but to our surprise as she put the machine on and our strong little baby was laid waving at us through the monitor! My pregnancy ran quite smoothly after 15 weeks and I’d bought a Doppler to keep my mind at rest! I was convinced that I was having a boy so much so that I’d already chosen his coming home outfit out by 16 weeks but at our early gender scan (17+2 weeks) we were told it was a girl!!! I then felt her first kicks 19 weeks exactly and Callum felt her move 2 days later
From then on I was completely low risk and had an extremely healthy pregnancy! No back ache, bad swelling or anything! After a failed sweep I was induced on the 23rd of October at half 7 and after gas and air and TWO epidurals my beautiful baby girl Olivia was born on the 24th at 4.29pm weighing 8lb 11oz! I have never felt love like it and I don’t think I ever will again. She is so beyond perfect and I am one very lucky mummy!
